Vote Next IT for SXSW 2016

The Next IT team had an incredible experience at this past year’s SXSW. Our founder and CEO, Fred Brown, participated in a fantastic panel discussion on the State of the Union of AI (read the Wall Street Journal recap here), which was both timely and able to move many of the current discussions forward in productive ways. Our chief medical officer, Dr. Tom Morrow, also presented on Virtual Health Assistants and the Future of Patient Care, a presentation that received a great response and fueled many excellent conversations about the future of VHA technology and healthcare. We had such a wonderful experience at last year’s event, that this year we have submitted three panels for consideration, and we’d like your help bringing these discussions to SXSW 2016.

Every year, SXSW allows the community to help decide on the agenda for the conference through voting, and this is the final week to place your vote. Once again, Fred Brown is looking to advance the AI conversation through his proposed panel, AI Personification: Bridging the Uncanny Valley. One of the toughest challenges of AI and virtual personal assistants right now is developing effective communications that not only fulfill our expectations, but help build the necessary trust and expertise that VPAs require. Fred’s panel will be looking at how we at Next IT develop these personas, and what we can expect from them in the future. You can get a taste of that conversation from Fred’s recent interview with the New York Times.

Dr. Morrow is also looking to return to continue his discussion about how technology can improve patient adherence. The panel proposal, Fixing the Patient Behavior Change Gap, includes some exciting companies and experts working on these problems, and will be a more focused dive into the specific areas that he addressed in last year’s presentation. We’re very excited for the opportunity to bring together innovative healthcare entrepreneurs from companies like BaseHealth, Conceivable, and Patient IO with Dr. Morrow to discuss this pressing issue.

Finally, Next IT’s president of enterprise, Rick Collins, will look to bring a panel on AI and the Enterprise to next year’s SXSW. AI is quickly transforming the enterprise and becoming central to business, and this panel will look at the challenges and opportunities that this poses for major corporations. The panel will be a vibrant and necessary discussion between Rick, Stefan Weitz of Microsoft, and Ibrahim Khoury of Aon Hewitt. You can read more about Rick’s thoughts on how AI is impacting the enterprise here.

Voting for SXSW ends this week on September 4th, so help us bring these great discussions to SXSW next year, and we’ll see you in Austin in March!
